The Order of the Blooded Eclipse

A Grimmveil Legend of Immortal Oaths, Forbidden Magic, and the Night That Changed the Realms Forever ⚜️

Before the great cities of Grimmveil rose from the earth...

Before the gemstone towers of Crimsonveil pierced the skies...

Before kingdoms claimed their borders and ancient houses carved their names into history...

There was only darkness.

And within that darkness, there was a question that haunted every immortal who walked the world.

Who would protect the balance?

For immortals were powerful.

Witches carried magic that could reshape reality.

Vampires possessed lifetimes of knowledge.

Ancient beings existed beyond the understanding of mortals.

But power without purpose was destruction waiting to happen.

And so, beneath a sky marked by a rare celestial event, an alliance was formed.

An alliance that would become one of the most feared names in all of Grimmveil.

The Order of the Blooded Eclipse.

The first members of the Order were not conquerors.

They were protectors.

The greatest vampires, witches, and ancient beings of the realms gathered beneath the shadow of a blood-red eclipse and swore an oath.

They would prevent wars between mortal and immortal.

They would guard forbidden magic.

They would ensure that no single force would rise high enough to destroy the world.

Their oath was carved into ancient stone.

Their magic was sealed with blood.

Their promise became legend.

For centuries, the Order stood in the shadows.

They ended conflicts before armies ever marched.

They destroyed dangerous relics before they could be used.

They protected secrets that even kings were forbidden to know.

The world believed they were guardians.

And for a time...

They were.

But every great power faces the same temptation.

The belief that only they are wise enough to decide the future.

Slowly, the Order changed.

The members who once protected freedom began protecting control.

The guardians who once prevented destruction began deciding who deserved to survive it.

Their oath remained the same.

But its meaning had changed.

And nobody noticed until it was too late.

At the center of the Order stood a figure whose name had been erased from history.

Not because she was forgotten.

Because someone had tried to make the world forget.

She was known only as:

The Matron.

No one knew her true age.

Some claimed she was among the first immortals to walk Grimmveil.

Others whispered she had existed before the realms themselves had names.

She was not feared because of her magic.

She was feared because she understood people.

She knew their hopes.

Their fears.

Their weaknesses.

She could look at a kingdom and see exactly where it would break.

To some, she was a savior.

To others...

She was the reason they needed saving.

Among the Order's most loyal servants was Alistair.

A vampire whose name became legendary throughout the immortal courts.

He was known as the Matron's blade.

Her messenger.

Her shadow.

For centuries, he carried out her commands without question.

He believed in the Order.

He believed in their purpose.

He believed the sacrifices they demanded were necessary.

Until the night he discovered the truth.

The first warning came as whispers.

Ancient members disappearing.

Forbidden artifacts being collected instead of destroyed.

Entire bloodlines erased from history because the Matron deemed them dangerous.

The Order was no longer protecting Grimmveil.

It was reshaping it.

And Alistair began to wonder how long he had been fighting for the wrong side.

On the night of the silver moon, the Matron summoned him to her hidden sanctum beneath Nocturna.

A place where even shadows seemed afraid to enter.

The chamber was older than any city above it.

Ancient symbols covered the walls.

Candles burned with flames that were neither fire nor magic, but something far older.

The Matron stood waiting.

Her veil hid her face.

But Alistair felt her gaze before she spoke.

"You have begun to question."

Alistair stood silent.

For the first time in centuries, he did not bow.

"I have begun to see."

A quiet laugh escaped her.

"Have you?"

The Matron stepped forward.

"You believe the Order exists to preserve balance."

Her voice echoed through the chamber.

"You believe we are guardians."

She lifted her hand, and a sphere of dark energy appeared above her palm.

A fragment of impossible magic.

A piece of something that should never have existed.

"But balance is not something you preserve, Alistair."

"It is something you create."

The darkness within the sphere grew.

Images appeared inside it.

Kingdoms rising.

Kingdoms falling.

Wars.

Betrayals.

Centuries of suffering.

"The world of Grimmveil has always been chaotic," the Matron said.

"Immortals fight for power. Mortals fear what they cannot understand. Magic grows wild. Realms collapse."

Her voice remained calm.

Almost gentle.

"I will end it."

Alistair stared at her.

"By controlling everyone?"

The Matron tilted her head.

"By saving them."

The answer chilled him more than any threat could have.

"The immortals have been given too much freedom," she continued.

"The mortals have been given too much influence. The realms have been allowed to destroy themselves again and again."

The sphere pulsed.

"I will create a world where chaos cannot exist."

Alistair's expression hardened.

"A world without choice."

The Matron smiled.

"A world without suffering."

And in that moment, he understood.

The Order had never been preparing to protect Grimmveil.

They had been preparing to rule it.

The Matron turned toward him.

"You have served me faithfully for centuries."

A pause.

"Do not mistake that loyalty for importance."

The darkness surrounding the chamber shifted.

"You were never my equal, Alistair."

"You were my weapon."

For the first time in his immortal life, Alistair felt fear.

Not fear of death.

But fear of what would happen if she succeeded.

That night, the Blooded Eclipse changed forever.

One of the Order's greatest servants walked away.

Not because he stopped believing in their mission.

Because he finally understood what their mission had become.

The Order had started as a promise.

It had become a prophecy.

And soon, it would become a war.

To this day, the oldest archives of Grimmveil still carry warnings about the Blooded Eclipse.

Some say the Order was destroyed.

Others say it waits beneath Nocturna, watching.

Waiting.

Planning.

The Matron's name remains lost.

Her followers remain hidden.

And Alistair's choice remains one of the greatest mysteries in immortal history.

Because the question was never whether the Order would return.

The question was:

When it does...

Will Grimmveil remember what it was created to protect?

Or will the world finally fall beneath the shadow of the Eclipse?
